Why we created the Aura series: clean air designed to belong in your home

For many years, air purifiers have been designed with two priorities in mind: performance or price. They are often white box, practical devices that sit against a wall or in a corner, doing an important job but rarely contributing to the way a room looks or feels.

At Smart Air UK, performance has always been central to what we do. Our focus remains on delivering high performance, low cost air purification that is backed by data and designed to move large volumes of clean air efficiently.

But over time, we began asking a different question. Not about airflow or filtration, but about how people live in their homes.

Why should clean air look like an appliance? And what if it could look like furniture instead?

That question became the starting point for the Aura series.

Designed to be part of your interior

Most air purifiers are objects you work around. The Aura series was designed to fit naturally into your interior.

From the beginning, the intention was to create products that feel at home in living spaces rather than standing apart from them. Each unit is made using real wood veneer and is hand assembled, giving it the appearance and presence of a piece of furniture rather than a conventional appliance.

The aim was not simply to disguise an air purifier, but to create something that contributes to the room. When a product looks comfortable in a space, it is more likely to be placed where it can be used properly, rather than hidden away.

This design-led thinking sits at the heart of the Aura series.

Two heights designed around everyday living

The Aura series was developed by thinking about how people use furniture rather than how they use appliances.

The Aura model has been designed to sit comfortably beside a sofa or armchair. Its height makes it suitable as a side table, providing a useful surface for everyday items such as a drink, a book or a lamp. It functions as a table in its own right while quietly circulating and filtering the air around the seating area.

The Aura+ builds on the same idea but with additional height. This allows it to work equally well as a bedside table or as a larger side table in living spaces. The increased height gives it flexibility across different rooms, particularly bedrooms where people spend long periods of time and where quieter operation is often important.

Both models were created to be used as furniture first, while also improving the air in the background.

Quiet control that adapts to your space

Many air purifiers rely on fixed speed settings or digital controls that limit how precisely they can be adjusted. With the Aura series, we wanted to give users more flexibility.

Each unit features a continuous dial control that allows airflow to be adjusted gradually rather than in steps. This makes it easier to find a level that suits the room and the time of day, whether that means a gentle background setting during the day or quieter operation in the evening.

Noise tolerance varies from household to household, so giving users the ability to fine tune performance felt like a practical and intuitive solution.

The Aura series has been designed to operate using low wattage, making continuous use practical from an energy perspective. The intention was to create something that can be left running as part of everyday life rather than switched on only when needed.

Materials chosen with longevity in mind

Material choice was another important part of the design process and much of the structure can be recycled at end of life apart from the electrical components.

The goal was to balance durability, appearance and responsible material use, creating products that feel substantial while remaining mindful of their environmental footprint.

Why Airbon exists alongside Smart Air UK

The Aura series also reflects a broader shift in how we think about air purification across different environments.

Smart Air products are our recommended solutions for situations where airflow and filtration capacity are the primary concerns, such as larger spaces or areas with higher levels of pollution.

Airbon was created with a different purpose in mind. Instead of focusing solely on maximum performance, the emphasis is on integrating air cleaning into everyday living spaces in a way that feels natural and visually appropriate.

Both approaches are important, but they serve different needs. Some environments demand the highest possible airflow at the lowest possible cost. Others benefit from solutions that balance performance with appearance and usability.

The two brands exist alongside one another because they answer different questions about how clean air fits into daily life.

Clean air that fits naturally into the home

The Aura series represents a shift in thinking about what an air purifier can be. Rather than existing as a separate device that occupies space, it becomes a functional object that contributes to the room.

By combining the role of a side table or bedside table with air cleaning, the design encourages consistent use without asking people to sacrifice space or aesthetics.

Clean air should not feel like an after-thought, nor should it be a compromise. It should fit naturally into the places where people already spend their time.

That idea sits at the centre of the Aura series. Does your home have an Aura?
